Located 15 miles south of Watford City off Highway 85, south of the the Theodore Roosevelt Park. Take the west bound scoria road immediately south of the Long X Bridge and go approximately 3/4 mile. McKenzie Ranger District

This primitive campground remains a favorite of the horseman and has reached capacity on many summer weekends.  There are 38 camp spurs, vault toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, and potable water.  Stock may also water from the Little Missouri River.  For over night horse users, only certified weed-seed-free hay and/or commerical feed is to be used on Forest Srvice Lands. There are 4 horse rails and mounting block.  The maximum trailer length allowable is 60 feet.

 

Horse users staying at the CCC who wish to ride in the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park can do so by siging out a gate key.  The gate key is issued at the Park's Visitor's Center between 9:00am and 5:30pm (CST).  There is a rider fee for riding in the park.  For further information  on this service, call 701-842-2333.

 

$6.00 overnight camping fee, first come, first taken basis.
